Just West of Shanghai, Duke Kunshan University’s campus is a seamless blend of traditional Chinese design and advanced technology in a spacious, modern setting. Covering 200 acres within Kunshan’s Yangcheng Lake Science Park, the first phase of construction included classrooms and research spaces, student and faculty residences, dining facilities, an executive conference center, and recreation and leisure areas.
Duke Kunshan University is a model of sustainable development, organized around a vast man-made lake and connected by bridges skimming the water’s surface. Terraces, pavilions and other spaces offer water views, invite gatherings and build community. The range of settings provided across the 40-acre complex speaks to the diversity of learning style that the school will support.

Academic Building
With offices and classrooms over three floors, the building houses teaching programs and administrative staff, as well as an auditorium, library, cafe, ballroom and two dining rooms. An open central atrium serves as a campus “living room,” emblematic of Duke Kunshan’s emphasis on collaboration and community. The atrium and roof terraces provide views of the campus and a lake to the west.

Conference Center
This four-story building comprises 203 guest rooms, 20 suites and multiple spaces for conferences, seminars, training sessions and private meetings, all with exceptional facilities and supported by high-quality on-site services. The building also houses classrooms, a business center, a fitness center and a Halal restaurant.

Student Residence
With room for 200 beds on three stories, the design emulates Le Corbusier’s Unite model – each suite is entered from the second floor, with shared living on that level, and four single bedrooms and two shared bathrooms above or below.
